Cooperative Response Planning in Cdm: Reasoning about Communicative Strategies
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper discusses the problem of generating communicatively adequate responses in information seeking dialogues and advocates the Constructive Dialogue Management (CDM) approach, which is an advance on previous research in that communicative principles are explicitly taken into consideration. Communicative principles are general inference rules which describe rational, cooperative action in establishing su cient mutual knowledge for the ful lment of the task. With their help, the system can reason about appropriate communicative strategies and overcome shortcomings in its knowledge base. The principles also allow planning of responses in di erent communicative situations, supporting exibility and generality of dialogue management.

متن کاملReasoning about Coherent and Cooperative System Responses
This paper discusses the planning of system responses in information-seeking dialogues. Many dialogue systems are capable of answering single questions or carrying out dialogues which have fairly xed structures, but they show little or no capability to continue the dialogue in an intelligent way, if something unexpected takes place. Our system aims to be exible and overcome the shortcomings in ...

Cooperation is a complex task that necessarily involves communication and reasoning about others’ intentions and beliefs. Multi-agent communication languages aid designers of cooperating robots through standardized speech acts, sometimes including a formal semantics. متن کاملUser ' s Inferences
In this paper, we describe a content planning mechanism which takes into consideration a user's possible inferences in order to generate the most concise discourse that achieves a given communicative goal. The consideration of a user's inferences results in the addition of information that addresses erroneous inferences , and the omission of easily inferred information. Given a communicative go...
